Maison La Mauny is the first distillery to have created an association that highlights the work of the people harvesting Agricole rum’s raw material and makes the sugarcane activity viable and sustainable on the island.
In 2018 the association has 64 members. It represents over 35% of the sugarcane producers of Martinique for a surface of 550 hectares (over 1,359 acres) divided among 8 sugarcane activity areas that go from Gros Morne to Sainte Anne. It produces and delivers around 1/3 of the supply of the Maison La Mauny distillery in AOC sugarcanes needs.
This association gives its people true structural help: administrative help, training, technical and legal help and mutual benefits management of their needs in manpower and supply.
For the vice-president Christian Moravie the objective is to “help the members organize themselves, get training and represent them when facing administrations and suppliers so they can defend and perpetuate their expertise and the sugarcane industry of Southern Martinique. We are extremely proud of their role among Maison La Mauny.”
